Malaga and Wangara are full of warehouses, workshops, fabricators and manufacturers. They're busy, practical places where the focus is rightly on getting work out the door. Cleaning can easily slide down the list. But in an industrial setting, a clean site isn't only about appearance; it's tied closely to how safely and smoothly the site runs.
We clean warehouses, workshops and the offices attached to them, so here's our practical take on why it matters and what a good routine looks like. As always, your own workplace health and safety obligations and advice from WorkSafe WA come first; this is about how cleaning supports them.
Slips and trips
Slips, trips and falls are among the most common workplace injuries. In warehouses, the usual culprits are dust and grit on smooth concrete, spills of oil, coolant or water, stray packaging and strapping, and debris that builds up along walkways and under racking.
A regular clean keeps walkways clear and floors free of the fine dust that turns smooth concrete into something closer to an ice rink. Spills should still be cleaned up straight away by whoever finds them, but scheduled cleaning stops the gradual build-up nobody notices until someone slips.
Clear walkways and markings
Floor markings for pedestrian walkways, forklift routes and storage zones only work if people can see them. Grime and tyre marks gradually hide lines and make the layout less obvious, especially for visitors and new staff. A good clean, and periodic pressure cleaning or scrubbing, keeps markings visible.
Dust and air
Warehouses with roller doors open to the street pull in a lot of dust. Workshops create their own from cutting, sanding and grinding. Dust settles on racking, ledges, machinery, lights and in the office. Regular dusting and vacuuming make the space more comfortable to work in and keep dust from spreading into offices and amenities. For specific hazardous dusts, follow your own safety controls and specialist advice; general cleaning is not a substitute for those.
Looking after equipment and stock
Dust and grit find their way into everything. Keeping floors and surfaces clean helps protect stock, packaging and equipment from unnecessary dirt and wear. It also makes it easier to spot problems early, like a small oil leak under a machine or forklift.
Amenities matter
Industrial sites often have hard-working staff rooms and bathrooms. Clean, stocked amenities matter for hygiene and for morale. People who do physical work all day deserve a decent place to eat lunch and wash their hands.
Audits, customers and visitors
Customers collecting stock, auditors, insurers and suppliers all see your site. A clean, organised warehouse signals a well-run business. If your industry involves regular audits, a consistently clean site means less scrambling beforehand.
A practical warehouse cleaning routine
Every site is different, which is why we start with a walkthrough. A typical routine might include:
Regularly (weekly, fortnightly or monthly)
- Sweep or scrub accessible floor areas and walkways
- Clean the office, kitchen, staff room and bathrooms
- Empty bins and manage general rubbish
- Wipe touch points like door handles, switches and rails
- Spot clean glass and entry doors
As needed
- Pressure clean floors, loading areas and entry aprons
- Degrease marked areas around machinery or parking bays
- Dust higher ledges and accessible racking areas
- Deep clean amenities
Industrial sites often have a regular office and amenities clean, with warehouse pressure cleaning added when it's needed. We work around operating hours, including weekends, so we're not in the way of forklifts and deliveries.
